Today people might think it was disgusting but basically it was a stainless steel saucepan with a wire basket in it and it was 3/4 full with beef dripping. This was kept, when not in use, in the cool dairy. The beef dripping was solid when cold. My mother would cut up chips, very unevenly, and drop into the hot dripping until they were cooked. These would be served with slices of the leftover beef from Sunday’s roast, with salt & vinegar.
Another favorite tea was to have bacon and egg complete with chips! It makes my mouth water just remembering the delicious flavours. The ingredients list for this menu was very small.
This was real food.
None of us were fat. Yes, we were living on a farm, and didn’t spend too much time in front of the television set, but it was the types of food that we were eating that meant we didn’t put weight on.
It was in the early 70s that we were advised not to eat animal fats but that we should now cook our food in “healthy vegetable oils“ which were initially developed as engine oils! It has taken years for the world to discover that these oils are often toxic and as a result there is much more sickness and disease. Right from the very beginning God gave us curds and whey as well as meat and vegetables.

PLEASE NOTE - DO NOT EAT HI FAT FOOD WITH LOADS OF CARBOHYDRATES or you will pile on pounds. My portion of chips was small with plenty of beef! Grass feed.
If it’s produced from a plant (or something that ate a plant) eat it but if it’s produced in a plant avoid it!
